While news that Chitton Way in Point Lonsdale is to remain unchanged, giving joy to both posties and the puerile (and especially puerile-posties), it has also seen the ongoing campaign for Nickerbacon Way taken up with renewed vigour.
Mike Oxlong is leading the charge. Mike, a distant relative of Sir Clive Nickerbacon, sees it as his civic and familial duty to see the proud name of Nickerbacon brought to the streets of West Lonny but it seems Mike’s tenacity has seen him fall foul of local authorities.
Mike has been in daily contact, ringing local Council everyday for the best part of three and a half years, until a restraining order was issued last July preventing any further contact. A peeved Mike tells us that “F**K YES” his rights have been violated in the past but his never say die spirit, characteristic of all great Australians, coupled with the forward momentum of Shitton Way make this the perfect time to devote his efforts to an intensive leaflet campaign, followed by a postcard in the local IGA.
Mike is also encouraging residents to make their voices heard and to dial-up their local representative and simply say “Mike Oxlong” before hanging up the phone.
