A Pete-less 1740 Lonsdale have silenced the doubters with a crunching win in a controversial affair against the highly touted Bears on CRT 2 tonight.
Trailing 3-1 early against a highly skilled and youthful Bears team, Arazani had enough and proceeded to rape, ravage and maul. Surprisingly the ref let things drift into danger territory and the jibes and coarse language had things simmering.
1740 got their noses in front as Marty was handed balls on a platter from Mark, who somehow managed to stay out of trouble (besides a yellow card). And that’s when things boiled over. A series of challenges between Sooky Bear and Arazani and the lid was off. The ref stepped in and just when it looked like a few reds were coming out….. nothing.
The tension was at fever pitch when Marty who had been dominating all night in full Monater mode, made an innocuous challenge in the area and a penalty was awarded. However, Sooky Bear (not to be confused with Choc Bear) decided enough was enough and left the court, leaving his team with 4 men. As he walked off Marty, who was hurting for being called an old cunt, politely enquired whether he wanted to “step into the car park and I’ll smash your face in”. He declined the offer and the Bears were in hibernation.
But the penalty still stood and Noodles who may need surgery on his groins after some incredible saves kept the ball out and then it was all over. 5-3 in the end and 1740 got the chocolates.
